Under the Danish Presidency of the Council of the European Union, the High-Level Policy Conference on the Future of Ageing and Long-Term Care is taking place this week (October 27–28, 2025) in Copenhagen. The event brings together policymakers, researchers, and business leaders to shape Europe’s next strategic approach to ageing societies.
Held at the historic Eigtveds Pakhus, the conference addresses the major challenges of a continent where, by 2050, one in three citizens will be over 60. Discussions focus on the digitalization of care, assistive robotics, artificial intelligence in health, and the creation of age-friendly cities.
“Europe must turn ageing into opportunity,” said a spokesperson for the Danish Presidency. “It’s not only about care, but also about inclusion, wellbeing, and active participation.”
Innovation in Longevity and Women’s Health
At the same time, the longevity sector continues to attract record-breaking investment. U.S.-based Midi Health, a virtual-care startup for women in menopause and midlife health, has just closed a $50 million Series C round. The company combines clinical AI and telemedicine to deliver personalized treatment and follow-up care, focusing on holistic wellbeing. With over 20,000 weekly patients, it is emerging as a leader in the FemTech + AI space.
New Rules for Regenerative Therapies
Also this October, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) released a new draft guidance titled Expedited Programs for Regenerative Medicine Therapies for Serious Conditions. The document updates the framework for accelerated approval of advanced cell and gene therapies. It offers greater flexibility in clinical-trial design and allows the use of real-world evidence, speeding the path from laboratory to market for regenerative treatments.
A Global Perspective
These three developments — Europe’s policy focus on ageing, the growth of AI-driven women’s health, and the FDA’s new regenerative-medicine framework — illustrate a major shift: longevity and intergenerational wellbeing have become global economic, political, and technological priorities.
As FIFTIERS™ puts it, “We are entering the decade in which living longer and better will become the world’s most powerful engine of innovation.”
